Metal Casting Services

As an independent metal foundry in Derbyshire, we recognise the importance of a reliable, quality focused service in the metal casting industry. We take great pride in the amount of new business, repeat custom and prestigious orders won through positive word of mouth and customer recommendation. Please find below a selection of our services for your consideration. If you have any questions or would like to know more on our metal casting, please feel free to contact us on the number below.

Green Sand & Petrabond Sand Casting

Petra bond is used as a facing sand and backed up with green sand to give very fine detail and an extra good surface finish. Green sand is an excellent material as it is used over and over again.  It does not produce landfill wastage and is environmentally friendly.

Air Set & Co2 Sand Casting

CO2 sand is used to produce the core, which in turn, produces the holes/insides of the castings.  Air set sand casting is used to produce larger types of castings.  Air set is much more expensive than sand, though large savings can be made in reductions in labour and ultimately production times.

Gravity Die Casting

Where large quantities of castings are required with tighter tolerances, we use the gravity die process. A sub-contract gravity die maker produces a cast iron permanent mould which operates with a rack and pinion. The casting process starts with the die being heated to a temperature of 150 – 200 degrees Celsius.

Once this has been achieved, the metal can be poured and stripped on solidification. Although die castings are generally cheaper than sand castings, the cost of die tooling can be considered more expensive. Materials used in gravity die casting include: lm6, lm24, lm25, lm27 to bs1490 and Zinc.

Plaques

Bronze and aluminium plaques are a speciality of ours,  and can be produced from an initial drawing, all the way through to the finished article. Patterns can be carved by hand with “patternation” undertaken at the customer's request. Pattern making facilities are available to produce patterns in wood, resin, aluminium and cast iron depending on the customers requirements, please contact us for more details:

All our materials are certified, enabling full traceability across all castings and metalwork
